How do you mark topics are read?
How long ago are we talking about? I don't remember such a button in recent memory.
You mark something as "read" by clicking into the thread, although the forum is buggy and will re-mark things as being unread a lot (or maybe it's just an issue with my client-side).

The (new!) box is a button. If you click it it disappears and the thread is marked as read.

at least 8 years ago, I lost lots of my stuff, emails etc.. and had to renew everything, I wasn't active on forums for a lot of time, anyway...
It could be just a black hole in my memory but I'm 90% certain it was a little link to mark forums read.

ok, thanks for useful workarounds, didn't notice a bug of unread posts.
Maybe our shadow admin should consider adding this feature to forums.
