@Cubbi, I was thinking the same thing, and was tempted to make the comment before you did.

Of course the creators are going to think their language is the greatest programming language, ever. When Julia has as large a user-base (or larger) as C/C++ and been around just as long then I'll admit it is popular.
If I had to take a guess, both by number of new developers picking it up and by amount of new code being written in it, I'd say JavaScript is probably the fastest-growing language.
The article seems to overemphasize relative growth over absolute growth.
"My userbase has grown tenfold just this week! I now have a whole ten users!"
"Our growth this year has only been 1%. We're only making $ 10 billion more than last year."
