Making a website..looking for tips

Pages: 12
I am not sure about wix since I haven't used it. The problem with all this site-builders is that the store everything in their file format so you can't change the provider easily.

In general if you want your own domain you have to pay for it. Some hosting companies include it in their package so it's part of the price.

Normally you charge your client for the product regardless how many hours you work on it. As a beginner you can expect to spend many hours coding and researching. If you would charge lets say just $20 per hour he probably couldn't afford it.

BTW. For creating and showing demos it might be a good idea to sign up for a free account. For my HP I use https://byet.host/ and I am happy with it.
Thank you! I am signing up for that right now, I really really appreciate your helpful tips! Please if you have more I would love to hear
Also, I signed up for the hosting from the link you provided but I actually don't quite understand it. There is a lot it offers it seems on cPanel & I don't really get all it does and what it is for
I want to link it with the code I created in brackets
Yes this cPanel can be confusing.
For the beginning maybe better to use a FTP program like FileZilla.
I don't use Brackets so I don't know if it can upload files.
Once you know how to upload the files you can easily show your creations. :)
Ohhhhhh Okay I know about FileZilla, I am a student developer and we use fileZila to upload files into wordpress
So to clarify this cPanel & fileZila are free web hosting services correct? which means that I can have a free domain to show my client? The directory and all the files like images, html & css get uploaded into the web host service?
No cPanel ist part of the hosting service. It's more a kind of control panel to manage your account.
You don't need to use it.
FileZilla is an ordinary FTP program.
Yes you get a free domain - sth. like http://your_user_name.byethost13.com
Yes you can upload all your files there and even create a database online.
To show your creations just show them the url.
Okay that makes a lot of sense! Thank you I am going to use filezella. Do I download the client or server https://filezilla-project.org/
Will I be able to see how my site looks on mobile devices now if I use filezila
Best is to use the FileZilla client. FileZilla has nothing to do with how the site looks. It just transfers the files from your PC to the host. After that you just type the url in your browser.
Ok great will do. Thanks for helping me I have learned so much
Have you managed to upload some files ?
No :( unfortunately having a lot of trouble working with filezila and the cPanel I don't know how to use it to test my work
Forget cPanle for the moment.
With Filezilla the first step is to go to File->Site Manager, create a new site and enter your details.
Once you have connected to the host you should see a node with htdocs on the right panel.
On the left panel you should see the files on your PC. Navigate to the file you want to upload, highlight them and drag them to the right panel.
On YouTube you can find some tutorials about FileZilla.
yeah I checked youtube but none of them were really that clear I played around with it for a little then gave up but I am going to try it again later today. I use this at my student development job so I understand how to move the files, it is just connecting to the server that I am having trouble with idk it is giving me so much grief. however, I didn't try it the way you mentioned so I will be sure to give it a try with that method
These are the settings I use.
